Background of the Study
Business innovation has become a critical driver of competitive advantage in the fashion industry, where creativity and adaptability are essential for success. Innovation enables firms to introduce unique designs, improve customer experiences, and respond effectively to changing market trends (Porter, 2024). For fashion brands in Zamfara State, innovation offers opportunities to enhance market position and differentiate themselves in a highly competitive industry.

Despite its potential, many fashion businesses in Zamfara State struggle to integrate innovation into their operations due to financial constraints, limited access to technology, and a lack of skilled labor. This study explores the relationship between business innovation and competitive advantage among fashion brands in the region, aiming to identify strategies for fostering innovation and enhancing competitiveness.

Fashion brands in Zamfara State face challenges such as intense competition, rapidly changing consumer preferences, and limited resources for innovation. While innovation is widely recognized as a critical factor for achieving competitive advantage, many brands lack the strategic and financial support needed to implement innovative practices (Yusuf & Bala, 2023).

Addressing this gap is essential for understanding how local businesses can leverage innovation to gain a competitive edge.
